While returning to school may not be a cure all for the few problems in my life, I see it as an avenue to eliminate any self-esteem issues that stemmed from failure to complete a degree program. This step will be the hardest to accomplish. I rarely ask for help; I usually am the one providing the help. My family is wonderful and supportive and I have empowered them to motivate me when I seem to back step. My parents know it is unacceptable to console me; they need to take a get-tough kind of love attitude for a while. They also realize how much I have beat myself up over the years because I failed to follow through with my education. It pains them to see their normally independent, confident, and zealous daughter suffer because of a mistake. I will try to enlist the aid of other classmates and when necessary the aid of my instructors. Finally, I need to quit being a workaholic. I need to redirect much of my energy to my education. Occasionally, I wonder if I have a time management problem. If I do, then the section on time management will teach me the skills to stay focused at work.


Returning to school will require a lot of commitment on my part. It also will require my support team consisting of family and friends to buy into my plan. They need to help me remain focused and give encouragement where needed. I will keep a mental picture of my diploma hanging on my wall, but I also need to break down the process to doable steps rather than concentrate on the big picture. With my plan of action in place, I know I have what it takes to succeed.
