Some people might say that in life there is such a thing as fate. That people have a destiny and whatever happens is pre-planned, and unavoidable. In the story The Interlopers by Sakie, it is disputable weather the events in the story occurred because of actions, or whether the events were fated to happen. All of the actions made in the story were done so because of free will, the men caused all the events to happen, and there were some unfortunate coincidences; therefore the events were a result of actions and not fate.


The story The Interlopers tells of how two neighbours were always fighting. The fighting gets so bad that they actually end up trying to kill each other in the end. A tree eventually falls on both of them pinning them to the ground. While the men are trapped they decide that their squabble is senseless and decide to be friends, but in an ironic twist they end up dieing because a pack of wolves kill them. We know in the story that one of the men would of died eventually when the other mans group found the other. However because they became friends and decided to call for help the wolves heard them, so they died by their own hand.


All of the actions done in the story were done by the free will of the characters; the events that followed were because of this. At anytime of the story the characters could have chosen to do anything differently, they were able to determine there own future. In the story they choose to be enemies with each other, and because of this they ended up hunting in the forest for each other, and this was their demise. They knew that their actions had risks; they chose how their future was going to turn out. The events in there life occurred because they caused them to occur.


The actions that the two men did in the storey caused the events to occur. They were out hunting each other and got caught under the tree. The wolves heard them yelling and killed them were all actions that they did, that eventually led up to their death. They were not a part of some fate that was inevitable; the results in the story could of changed if one of them had chosen to do a different action. These actions are not a part of their fate; they are just the actions, actions that led up to their end.
