7, 00, I attended the Kean Chamber Symphony. Out of all the songs, I liked Estancia Suite by Alberto Ginastera. Alberto Ginastera was Argentinean and was born in 116 and died in 18. Another one of his works were Variaciones Concertantes The Final Movement Allegro molto.

Estancia Suite was about a city boy, who tries to win the affection of a ranch girl, but is unable to compete with cowboys. The piece evoked a sense of competition and a great deal of emotion was shown through the music. It began very subtle and then in the end, began to get faster, louder, and striking. You could tell that there was some sort of race going on. It was very easy to imagine a scene from a movie and relate it to the music. I think that Ginastera wrote the piece because he knew that this would grab people’s attention. Whether this song related to his life goes unsaid, but I think he wrote this because he knew that this piece is very striking, riveting, and overall an eye-opener. When I heard it, I felt like I was on the edge of my seat. I was waiting for some other climax with the song in order to see how it would conclude. The song stirs up ad reline and makes your heart race. I felt like I was holding my breath waiting for something else to happen. You can feel every note and instrument flow through your body right down to your fingertips. With every drumbeat, you could feel your heart beat with the music. I felt myself relating the song to a certain situation and pretending to be doing something as the music was playing. It’s interesting to notice how music has so much meaning to it even though there are no words or pictures backing it up. You could sense that something was coming from the feel of the music. As the beat gets faster, louder, and stronger, you know and feel that something’s going to happen.




Another one of his works that I mentioned was Variaciones Concertantes Final Movement Allegro molto. This piece relates to Estancia Suite because it conveyed suspenseful and dramatic scenes throughout the song.
